Bad Idea...Great Idea
It's a bad idea to try and catch your straightener as it falls to the floor... fully heated. It's even worse to try and catch it again because you managed to keep it from falling by grabbing it (by the heated plates) the first time.
It's a great idea to blog about your upcoming wedding and how excited you are about it. (This would actually be Diana's idea) I wouldn't want to be accused of plagiarism. Hopefully my readership of 3 or so aren't bored with the idea because great idea has the potential to make up for bad idea, even though it kind of hurts to type because of bad idea. On to good idea...
My parents like to tell the story of me telling them I wouldn't leave the house until I was 35. As much as they say they wish I would have stuck to that ideal I am sure they are glad for me to be out on my own (maybe not so far away but on my own). Then I reached that age where I wasn't going to get married and kids were even more less likely. I was going to be a career woman and save the world with my journalism and business skills (single handedly). And although my mom will still say I'm too young to be getting married I am sure she is glad I have grown out of this stage in my life as well.
So how is being out of that stage of my life and on to the next? It's great of course! It's exciting to be planning on a new adventure and even more exciting is that adventure includes Corey. I know there is only more to come from here on out but I can honestly say this is the happiest part of my life...thus far. I've found someone who has been very invested on making sure I'm happy, more than happy.
It has its draining moments like accepting help, that's a toughy, or lack of sleep makes me grumpy, or Corey seeing me break down because I let myself stress over school and work (good thing I'm not doing things single handedly). But at the end of the day I never doubt if he's there for me or if he wants to spend time with me.
Happy Wednesday Everyone!
And remember: Don't grab hot straighteners! It's not worth it!

Nothing to Blog About
I didn't run this weekend like I planned.
I didn't do homework this weekend like I planned.
I didn't check prices and most of the wedding stuff like I planned.
I didn't clean my room like it desperately needs to be but I didn't plan on that.
So what did I do? Saturday I tried to go running but the indoor track was closed to runners for a tennis thing. After that disappointment I went grocery shopping for the week and picked up some cupcake decorating things. I made cupcakes to practice icing them for the wedding (FLOP). The icing wasn't the thick kind you can make designs with it kind of just melted and made a mess. Cupcakes are now out of my house, as it should be. We went to a basketball game that night, by then I was extremely tired but hung in there. We made tons of pizza that night, no literally tons.
Then Sunday came along and I got to go to temple prep, easily my favorite class. Cor and I went to our first engaged couples fireside. We then went back to his place and watched tennis...along with other sports and the Simpsons. The Simpsons is a new part of our routine that I'm not entirely excited about. I'm not a fan of the humor or the number of times Homer says "doh." Never have and, sorry Cor, never will.
I don't even remember Monday. Oh wait yes I do, I started out the day in a grumpy mood. But by the end of the day Corey had me back to normal.

Wedding Planning
It's been a little hard with both moms in a different state then the bride but I think things will all work out. Or I'll just not care by the wedding date. Let's face it, bride and groom hardly eat the reception food, they don't see the slide show, they only see those who come through the receiving line, and even more honesty for you they would rather be gone already (if you know what I mean). But see, we're having desserts at the CO reception so I do want to have some of the food, we're going to find some sort of system to zip through people in the receiving line, and we're going to have fun at our reception.
What the moms and I have come up with so far:
Cupcakes for the CO reception cake with a couple of those giant cupcakes.(Corey's idea actually and I love it!)
Found some awesome fabric to accent the center pieces.
Jes is getting a little stressed out and supplementing it with shopping. Which makes her more frustrated because she's not finding anything cute. I have a Forever 21 card from my soon to be mother and I plan to find something way cute for our engagement pictures.
I am very excited to get those done, I know we have some time before we send out invites but I've been playing with Photoshop and think I can make a decent invitation and save us some money.
That's it so far I need to write down the things we've finalized so we don't get to June and not know what's going on.

Wedding Diet Week 1
I love running! I always take a break from it after getting sick or vacation and then when I start up again I keep thinking why did I ever stop. Normally I run outside in the sun; I can't get enough of it. Heat and sweating in everyday clothes isn't so fun but when you're out there to be hot and sweaty its a whole different story. A big thanks goes out to Diana for being my running buddy. She's a great pace car because normally I am a bit sporadic depending on my music.
I've been doing a mile every other day and Saturday I'm stepping up my week to a mile and a half (and so on and so forth). My goal is to get back up to three and then work on speed for a 5K in March or April.
Fun Fun!

Wedding Diet Day 1
Well I need to get into honeymoon shape now so of course I'm jumping on the soon-to-be-bride band wagon and starting a diet. I tried cutting out sweets and well Corey proposed with a cake so you can rest assured that didn't last! I finally got to the grocery store last night and picked up some things for salads as well as some fruit. I need healthy items but items I can take on the go for work and school. I think lean cuisines will make there way back into my freezer but for now I'm going to try sandwiches and salads. Then there's the working out. I really don't have the motivation. I want to try to get up early and go up to campus and use the track and such but I keep hitting snooze! So I'll start that tomorrow...I hope.
Any ideas and suggestions on things that have worked for you are always greatly appreciated. Happy Dieting!

The Story
Many of you have asked how everything happened and now that I am back in Provo procrastinating homework I have time to tell you the story.
Boy met girl:
We met through school/church a little over a year ago. I hung out with some of the people in his group but decided they didn't like me and thought that maybe they were a little immature. He claims he thought I was emo and painted my nails black, which I don't think I have...ever.
Proof that first impressions aren't everything:
Despite the fact that I thought he was immature and he thought I had a bad sense of fashion a year later we started getting to know each other better. It's all because I was trying to get a bunch of Colorado people together in September and found his number (Note: I did not stalk him!)I sent out a text to all the CO people I knew and he happened to respond. But the party never happened and he didn't even know it was me until...
A day or two later it came up in conversation and he figured out it was me. Cat is out of the bag now and ball is in Cor's court.
Disclaimer:
At this point in my life I had decided to let things just happen and not be the girl who starts things. I decided to say yes to dates if and when I was asked but I did not plan or provoke such things.
Over the course of a couple of days Cor and I happened to go to the same social events. A BBQ here and crepe party there and a night of watching 17 Again.
The first Date:
I loved it! Very casual and nothing to worry about. Cor suddenly gets a craving for ice cream and before I know it he's on his way to pick me up and take me to DQ at 11:00 at night. I did not know DQ was open so late and this was exciting news to me. Is it ok to admit that I was most impressed with his truck? I had to pick my jaw up off the ground before climbing inside. What can I say I'm a sucker for trucks.
Disclaimer:
Even though I said I was not going to put out an indication I might be a little more interested, I still did with Corey. I wasn't even sure I was a little more interested.
After that we spent everyday together until Thanksgiving break. He was impressed that I liked to watch sports and I was impressed with finding another side to the fun (not immature) Corey.
And now:
We're engaged! Yep that's right it only took him three months to convince me...kidding it was only one! Corey is amazing and I am so excited to start this new part of my life with him.
He surprised me with a "Christmas" dinner when I got back to Co on the 31st. We exchanged gifts and ate by candle light. It was the most romantic thing Corey has done for me and yes I was teary eyed.

And then he asked if I was ready for dessert...

The room was dark except for the candles so I didn't see the ring and barely saw what was written before I realized he was on his knee asking me to marry him.
That's my version of the story anyway Corey has every right to add or change what he thinks went down differently.
Now it's wedding plans and finishing my last semester at the Y. It's going to be a great year!
I'm sorry if I start to neglect this blog and possibly abandon it all together. I will most likely start a new one when I get a hubby!
